Join the Littoral Society for Ocean Inspired Movie Events

"Ocean Frontiers II" is an inspiring film about citizens working together for healthier economies and healthier seas across New England. In a region steeped in old maritime tradition, comes a modern wave of big ships, energy industries and a changing climate, now testing the limits of an already crowded sea. But in a pioneering trial of far-sighted planning—pushed by blueprints for off-shore wind —old residents and new are coming together to keep their ocean and livelihoods alive.

The Society is co-hosting two screenings of O
cean Frontiers II
in May along with post-film conversations about ocean planning in the Mid-Atlantic and how we can help sustain the ocean environment, marine livelihoods and coastal cultures in our increasingly busy New Jersey waters. The increasingly busy waters require better identification of our ocean's special places and ways to help agencies better protect them through science-based decision making. The region's first-ever ocean plan is being released for public review in late June, so now is a great time to get informed and learn about opportunities to engage in this work.

The first event will be held in Tom's River on May 2 at the Toms River Branch, Ocean County Library. Register here.

The second event will be held in Harvey Cedars on May 19 at the Maris Stella Retreat and Conference Center. Register here.
